When I lived in New England it was the last month before spring that I loved weather. For those of you who don't know, I hate cold weather. Yes, snow and ice is pretty. I would rather see pics of it and not live in it.
I loved watching the trees turn their greens into beautiful reds, yellows, oranges and pinks. The crisp air is perfect for many outside activities during the day and fire-pit get-together.
Here in Florida I enjoy the cooling down of the air because it kills off the bugs and makes evenings outside wonderful. I love a blazing fire-pit and a cup of hot chai tea on a cool evening.
I picked October to be the month I get to celebrate my wedding.
I even had my family and friends throw autumn leaves as we walked out the doors instead of rice, or bubbles, etc. (so much love and thanks to those who went out to "pick'' leaves)
My son was born on the 30th of October.
October holds so many happy memories.
My favorite holiday closes out the month. I love Halloween. I love the decor. If I had my way and unlimited money to decorate my yard and house would be covered in decor. I have just a few things in my growing bin of Halloween decorations.
I know many people have issues with this Holiday because of many of the cultural things that began this Holiday. I try and not shove it into anyone's face but my son does dress up. We do walk a neighborhood getting candy. My husband stays at our house at our door to make sure we also give out candy to those who knock on our door. In the past we have only gotten maybe 10 kids but I feel that if we take part and go get candy we also need to give candy at our house.
This year my son is having issues deciding on a costume. He wants me to dress up this year and he has picked me to be a witch, a good witch. His choices for himself started this list....in order of newest idea to the latest.
- Wizard
- Ghost
- Harry Potter
- Lego Man
- Bert from Mary Poppins when he was dressed as the chimney sweep
- Peter Pan
- Peter Pan's shadow
That is the list as of today. He has to make a decision this week so that I can get the costume together. I really want him to pick his own and I will try my best to make it work.
October. It is a great month.
