Karen

Tornadoes give to warning.....So I don't want to live in Tornado Alley.
Earthquakes happen fast....So be careful of fault lines.
Crazy Ice and Snowstorms...Did that. Hated that. I am happy if I never have to be around snow again.
Forest Fires...happen ever single year in certain areas.
Mudslides...happen ever single year in certain areas.
Tsunamis....happen in coastal areas.
Hurricanes.....happen and they give you a warning. All this info is gathered and shared with the public. You can actually watch the path of the storm.

We are all going to live in an area where natural disasters happen. Pick one and get over it and don't whine about it when it happens. Yes it is sad when people die....but really we knew it was going to happen. So you can't be surprised when it does then whine that it did. Be safe people. Follow instructions that are given. If they say red flag, no one in the water...why do you think? "Yea! time to get in the water with a freaking board and see if I can stand on it!" then the family gets on tv after their person had died and said they were the smartest person and can't believe it happened. Really? (it happens every year almost) Or the crazy teens that think that their little Honda civic will outrun the Tornado. They might have died but wow that was a great video shot they got for Youtube. And the list goes on. There are tragedies that can not be helped. But if you know something is headed your way do not play with it!!!

Karen is headed for the Gulf Coast. Will you see me at the beach? NO. Will you see me run away? NO because I have been watching the news and she is not a big storm. She is small potatoes compared to other storms. Will I make sure things are strapped down? Yes because my trashcan does not need to be 5 blocks away. Will I make sure all windows are secure and we have supplies in case we have no power? yes I will.

OK; my rant is over and I feel better. People need to use their commonsense.

  1. Oh, no! We went to the beach last evening! To see Karen's bluster up close. The only accident was with my camera case. Someone was left to watch it, but a wave snuck past her and... Fortunately, I had taken my hard-case aluminum one so it didn't float out to sea, and nothing got wet inside.
